In the blockbuster sequel, ‘Inside Out 2’, director Kelsey Mann has introduced new emotion characters like Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment. Initially, there was consideration for including another emotion: Shame.
Exploring Shame’s impact on Riley could have added depth to the storyline, especially considering its relevance during puberty and its potential to trigger destructive behavior if not properly addressed. However, Mann expressed that Shame was “not fun to watch” and had concerns that Shame’s inclusion might make the film too emotionally heavy and less enjoyable for audiences, leading to its exclusion from the final script. The director said he wanted it to be a film people rewatched over and over, like 2015’s ‘Inside Out’.
This decision reflects Pixar’s commitment to creating films that balance emotional depth with entertainment value!
